Education

I have a BA in Elementary Education, from Curry College, Milton, Massachusetts. I am fully certified in Elementary Education, Teacher of the Handicapped, and Teacher of English as a Second Language.

Experience

I have 30 years of teaching in Public School. I have also been a Home Instructor for students who cannot attend school for 21 years. Since retiring from Public School, 2 years ago, I have continued to do Home Instruction, tutored a Special Needs Child, and I have been working part-time as an ESL Teacher/Tutor. I continue to tutor because I still have a love for teaching, and I prefer to tutor, rather than doing anything else with my time.

Hobbies

I love working one on one, and through individual instruction, I feel I have the ability to help children succeed in school. In my experience, children really benefit from tutoring. I am able to both reinforce, and develop academic skills. I have extensive experience working with Regular Education Students, Special Needs Students, and more recently I am increasing my knowledge, and experience working with ELL children, and adults as well. I have built a wonderful collection of materials to help students become fluent in English, and I really enjoy teaching English as a Second Language. I am most comfortable working with students up to the Fifth Grade Level, but I can comfortably work with Special Needs Students working in higher grade levels. I have had Orton Gillingham training, which uses a Multi sensory approach used to help struggling readers. I have been very successful using this a method to help students develop phonics skills. I am an enthusiastic, patient tutor. I am dedicated to help all of my students reach their highest potential.
