University of Rhode Island - BS, Physics/Applied Mathematics , Rhode Island College - MA, Education
I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island, where I completed a double major in Physics and Applied Mathematics. I then moved on to Rhode Island College, where I earned my master's degree in Teaching. I am experienced in working with students ranging from elementary schoolers to college students in a variety of topics, including algebra, calculus, trigonometry, physics, chemistry, and many other math and science topics. However, I am especially interested in tutoring physics because of the wide range of concepts covered. It can seem like an intimidating course at first, but I aim to simplify the topic into easy-to-understand segments. I like to get to know my students' preferred learning style, areas of concern, and strengths so I can develop a personalized tutoring plan. As each student learns in their own unique way, it's beneficial for me to customize my approach to fit each student's needs and goals. I love helping my students see the science in everyday events, and by emphasizing the connections to the real-world, I can help students see science as much less foreign than they once did. When I'm not sharing my love for science with students, I enjoy applying physics concepts to snow sports like skiing and snowboarding.
